Course Outline:
The Jig and Fixture curricula provides apprentices with the study materials that enable them to perform the tasks associated with this trade. When combined with on-the-job training, this program provide trainees with the comprehensive skills and knowledge they willneed to perform in this trade area. Key courses include welding and cutting principles, equipment and techniques, and effectively using machine shop equipment such as grinders, milling machines, tool making, jigs and fixture making. Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
  • Develop the foundation skills of math, measurements, safety and print reading used in a machine shop operation.
  • Learn the uses of gas and arc welding equipment and techniques.
  • Identify different types of cutting tools.
  • Describe the various uses of jigs and fixtures.
